**Benchmade - 5000 AUTO AXIS**

Unpossible!

So, how does that work? Pull back on the AXIS lock and the blade/spring releases? Pull back again to close?

I wonder if we'll ever see a doube action version? :D

I gotta say - Why?

The axis lock seems fast enough for me.

I wonder how it stays closed.

It would stay closed the same way that the manuals stay open, they probably only had to change the blade tangs profile very slightly. I dont think that a D/A option would be possible, the closest apoximation would be an assisted opeing AXIS. Due to the design of the AXIS lock and the way BM probably converted it to auto, this maybe one of the few S/A knives that it would be easy to de-auto.

154CM drop point blade, Machined Al handle, and it is griptilian ish, sounds great to me!

Sweet looking knife, and I love the axis lock... but what advantages does the auto axis have over a traditional auto plunge lock?

Its ambidexterous. (sp?)

:D

Several of Dalton's models use a similar concept, like the new Rung Sat. It works just dandy. I just got my Benchmade Catalogs today - I'll post some pics when I get a chance.

[Edited to correct my mistake - M&W originated the idea and the way I typed it, it seemed like I implied the opposite. My apologies to them. Should have thought through my response. :)]
