Benchmade 53 Mangus HELP!

I recently got this 53 Mangus Balisong by Charles Marlowe. Some guy had it in it's drawer with the case and all with no use what so ever, no flipping no cutting no nothing.

THE PROBLEM: blade has some black spots (rust?) on it which i'd like to get rid of if possible. The spots look superficial but i was not able to remove them with stuff like wd40 and a soft cloth. I rubbed the blade many times with no results... maybe something went out but not much. The texture on this D2 blade is sooo damn beautiful and the whole bali it's a jewel. I'm not a big fan of balis but this one it's just beautiful. If anyone can tell me what to try on this without destroying the texture. Maybe rubbing with metal polish like Autosol and soft cloth or maybe 0000 steel wool? If anyone owning similar steel had similar problems maybe can share expiriance.

Thank you everyone for your time

Here are photos of the blade dismounted:

Sending it to Benchmade might not be a possibility, seeing as you are in Spain. Let's go to the MTE section instead.

Anything you do beyond a metal polish may very well affect the blade etching. 1500 grit sandpaper certainly will

Photo quality is not clear enough for me to see what the problem is and recommend a way to fix it. It can be removed but how much of the blade markings are affected will be the issue.

No sand paper. It will scratch. Try flitz or mothers. Be aware rubbing too much in one spot will "polish" so try repeated wiping so it remains uniform on the patina.

Was going to add this to my post. Good advice. I've also had good luck with wenol Polish. Polish the entire thing evenly and, as elite says, not too hard or it will over polish the matte finish.

Thank you everyone for the reply. I bough a good metal polish which convinced me after reading reviews.. it's not too abrasive. I will do this slowly and start with the area between the pivots where it's mode hidden and see results. Also, I will try it on several of my abused blades and see what pressure to apply etc... Will post results here...

Hello again, I can't seam to find a solution to this "blade cancer". I tried with flitz polish on the spots without any luck. This is not going away without sanding it... i'm sure now... I decided to leave it like this but my question now is: if i put some tuf glide on it and leave it like this.. will the spots continue to eat out of the steel ?

If they're black they shouldn't spread. Try Barkeepers Friend, Comet or Ajax with a stiff bristled brush.
