Hi.

Just picked up this exclusive 530-901 from REI this afternoon, pics to follow...on the standard black 530 the blade steel's 154cm, on this version it's S30V and the blade's hair popping sharp. With my dividend and additional 20% off I got this beauty for $65.

Here's a couple of pics:

Enjoy, I love the blue scales!

Your wife did an excellent job of talking you out of it.

I’m sure at that price you eventually won the argument.
Good job! ;)

Thanks Doc, she's very open minded...it was either the M4 Ritter or this 530-901, and I really dislike the Grip handle scales so the decision was pretty easy.

I thought the Grip and the 530 used the same handle material and the same partial liner setup. :o

I simply dislike the width and feel of the Grip handle scales. (G-10 is my favorite handle material).

On the 530 I have a standard model in 154cm with the black Valox scales and it's one of my faves. These are easy to tuck in anywhere, and one of REI's hot sellers, I suspect for their light weight and easy to carry thinness.

I've owned three large Grips and sold/traded them away, it's just a personal choice.

And yes, the liners are partial on the large Grip and the 530, more on the full side with the mini Grips.

Nice looking 530:thumbup: That wouldn't have happened to come from the REI just off Main Street near Target/Gemco would it????;) I haven't been by there in a long time but if memory serves that's where the REI used to be, I believe on Ygnacio Valley Blvd.;)

Enjoy it!

I’m looking this 530 over for the second time in this thread. It is considerably cooler then it’s advertising photo (Benchmade photo.)
I’m also thinking about that blade. I have it in 154CM, it’s thin profile makes it cut like a laser. In S30V with the blue “Widow Maker” scales it has to go in the ULTRA COOL category. James Bond cool.

I go to Berkeley once a week pretty much. The REI store there has a much larger selection of everything, esp. knives.

And Doc, good to see you over here. You HAVE to get one of these, the S30V blade is amazing, and for some reason the knife is a lot smoother than the standard 154cm version I also own, so it is a keeper!

Just on appearence and with its thing profile, does not seems fit for outdoorsy things..seems more of a self defense knife...I just got my BM bone collector D2 steel..soild as a rock..thinking about getting the BM 950 rift next..
