Benchmade 550 vs. 551

Which do you prefer, the 551 or the 550? Why?

I have mised feelings myself. I prefer a drop point, but also like the oval hole better than the thumbstud.
 
I, too, prefer the drop point, but I *demand* an opening hole on that knife! When I get my Griptilian, it'll have to be the 550, it seems.

What were they thinking? Anyone hear anything on the BM forum about this idea?
 
Just my thoughts. I'm getting a BM550 after weighing the two - I like the drop point blade style but the thumb studs on the 551 has ruined the original look and feel of the Griptillian.

I prefer the 550. Somehow, the Griptilian does not look right without the thumb hole. I like drop point blade shape of the 531, but I still prefer the oval hole.

The 551 doesn't have much of a drop point anyway. Certainly nothing exaggerated. 550 it is.

For those who don't know, this knife is an amazing bargain.
 
Thats probably why I'm getting two 550s :D

550, the thumbstud really spoils the "feel". Actually reserved one already.... combo edge.

considering i never use the thumb studs on any of my axis locks anyway i don't think it matters which one i choose. i would, therefore, go with the one that looks better...the thumb studs.
