Here is a quick look at both of the knives. I like the slimness of the blur but the axis lock is so smooth. Both are great, this is my first benchmade. Know i want to get more benchmades. Although I still love my Blur for the money

Thats a tough question. I have and appreciate both knives. The Blur definitely carries slimmer, but lays in the hand uncomfortably. The Grip feels better in the hand and promotes that well built feel and look.

The Blur will fold on you. I've seen it myself and footage of it. Someone got cut pretty bad by one. Crocket20 maybe?

The Blur is certainly a well loved, capable knife but it just didn't do it for me. I had the S30V version and the grippy handles just shredded my pants pockets like crazy. I do like the blade shape and ergonomics of the Blur but overall prefer the Benchmade (mini) Grip.

I saw that too, I tested 3 of my blurs and none of them had problems, crocket's must have been a fluke. He even sent it in and the factory fixed it.

IMO, the Blur is really, really unattractive.
The Grip is a great knife, but the handle material is the worst, again IMO. Lol.
I'd get the Benchmade.

I like the blur better . I had three grip all are gone I just don't like the plastic handle . I love the mini grip .

I much prefer the grip for actual use. Although the Blur is very comfortable in the pocket it's the most uncomfortable knife in hand I've held yet, too many hot spots.

LoL what I mean is that I don't like the full size 551 but I do like the mini grip .

Not sure that these knives are two that I'd lump together for comparison, but I own a full sized grip, mini grip hg, and a blur. I think the blur looks "cooler" but that's about the only thing I like better about it. I'm not a huge fan of the textured portions, thumb stud, or assisted opening in general. I don't mind the "plastic feel" of the handles on the grip, but the smaller version feels less chunky in my hands. It actually gets carried much more than the full sized version. The belly on the Blur makes it a heck of a slicer, but it's a pain to sharpen (for my limited skills, at least). Plus the hollow grind on the mini grip hg makes it slice just as good, if not better than the blur without such an aggressive blade shape. So without actually answering your question, I'd say skip the blur and 551, and go with the mini grip 555 (hollow grind and spyde-like hole).

So, as a general rule we don't do comparison discussions between different brands in a specific manufacturers section. It's kind of poor form, I'm fairly sure one manufacturer isn't excited to have people discussion the competition. Off to General, where it belongs.

To be honest, it depends on my mood. I've got Griptilians and Blurs, both get about the same amount of pocket time. They are such different folders that it's worth owning both.

I prefer the Griptillian myself. It sees little pocket time, but if I am carrying a locking folder with a pocket clip, its the Grip.

After a couple blur videos not sure I'de ever wanna use that thing for anything intense. It seems to like the taste of pinky finger.
