i was up at outdoor america yesterday looking at a few benchmades, and they had several ive never gotten a chance to handle,but all thier prices were full retail
the gunshop up on 71 near ag has a few,but high prices too.
you know of somewhere that i dont?

Yeah, actually I do Maurice. I went to Benchmade's website a while back and just for the heck of it, I went to their "Find a Dealer" part. It came back with a place called "Ripple Outfitters". I had never heard of them, so the wife and I called to find out where they were located. They are right behind the new Sonic on college just south of Hastings up on the hill. You know the one, located in that new strip mall with the screwy entrance and exit. They don't carry a lot, but they do get all of the first-run models. They had the 551 only a couple of days after someone posted a pic of it here on the forums! As an added plus, the guys I have talked to when I stop by are friendly and seem pretty knowledgeble about the knives. Unfortunately, they charge full retail too.

Played with a BM555 today at a B&M store.
LOVED IT! It's "only" 440C, which might kinda suck, but I plan on buying one anyway.

I handled a pre production 555 at Grand Prairie knives last Thursday (10/6/01). I was there to pick up a AFCK axis 
so I didn't walk out with it but I think it would have made a nice compliment to the pre-pro 550 I have. I really like the 550 especially for the price, very nice handle shape. If you are looking for a smaller knife in a reasonable price range the 555 would be a good choice.
