I know this thread has been covered before, but I can't find any recent posts on the topic. Everything is from a few years ago.

I am looking to get a good quality EDC and I am looking at the Benchmade 556 Mini Griptilian and the Spyderco Delica 4. Does anyone have an opinion on the two knives? I am also open to any other suggestions that you have. Currently, I can find the knives at equal cost, so the financial aspect is not really coming into play here. I would overall like to spend around $60. Thanks in advance for the feedback.

I have owned many of each and they are 2 good EDCs for sure. Both have adequate steel, both have some sort of "plastic" scales although many tend to like the FRN on the Delica more than the hollow, plasticky feel of the grip. Both pretty equal in size and ability. The locks are completely different but serviceable. Most folks have at one time in their lives handled and used a backlock so no surprises there but if you want to play and use something different the Axis lock is really cool and there is little to criticize.

Nothing about these knives have changed since then.

Both have lots of fans and are well made and time-proven knives, so buy what you like.

IMO, the wide FFG Delica cuts better, but the minigrip is a smaller, more carry-able package.

Cant go wrong with either
IMO the Grips BM handle is tougher but the SC delica's Jimping is better
Blade material is close performance wise 154cm for grip vg10 for delica

I prefer the handle on the Mini Grip to the larger handle on the Delica - that is why I own a BM556 and not a Delica.
However, I like the VG10 better than the 154cm. I find it easier to get a really fine edge on VG10.
I own many more Spycerco knives than BM, but you are getting good quality with either knife.
I like the blade better on the Spyderco, but the handle and axis lock are neat on the BM.
Take your pick. It really depends on how you want to use the knife and your aims.

The information of a couple years ago still holds true today, the knives haven't changed. Both very good pocket-able EDC blades that should handle 99% of your daily needs. The easy answer is get both, start a rotation. I like both and have multiples in them, different colors and such but I lean more towards the BM in that it's just a little more fun to play with.
-Mini Grip handle feels better in my hand and is super smooth to deploy with the axis lock and can be flicked open and closed with a little practice
-Delica has a tad longer handle and opens quite smoothly for a lockback, but can't be flicked open as easy as the Mini Grip, better thumb ramp and jimping

I've edc'd both before. Aesthetically I prefer the mini grip but in terms of functionality I would go with the FFG Delica given the chance. The slimmer profile + FFG blade suit my edc tasks perfectly.

Can't go wrong with both but I would give the slight edge to the delica. YMMV

Most people would be happy either way. I do believe it's easier to 'trick out' your Mini Grip if you get a case of "GAS" (Gear Acquisition Syndrome). I have the full size versions of both (grip vs Endura 4) and they get equal pocket time.

I love my Mini Grip, but would recommend you try a Delica 4 in ZDP-189...so many great options in the knife world...so little money to spend...

Both are great, and I love them both. At first I carried my D4 quite often, but it's since been kicked out of my pocket by my Mini Grip.

Some interesting answers, I was honestly expecting more posts to leen towards the delica but it hasn't been the case. I've been eye balling the mini grip for quite sometime but got the delica instead. Im sure I'll get the mini grip soon, or the Doug Ritter!

If you are talking Ritter, that 'kicks it up a notch' as they say!

I think I would go with the Delica if money is an issue. The Delica has better ergos for my hand and it is my personal preference for EDC.

I have like 7 or 8 mini grips in various steels, blade shapes, and colors. And I have one Delica 4 FFG.

The mini grip carries better in pocket, has a better lock, and is made in the USA.
I like the Delica's VG10 better than my 154CM minis. I also like the full flat grind.

Both are great and will make you happy, buy one of each.

Delica has IMO a better ergos and a nice blade but it will and it will develope blade play up and down and to me that's a big issue. The mini grip small and compact handle if you have large hands it can be an issue lock up is hands down better than the delica and the blade shape is very sweet axis lock is a lot of fun to get the mini you will love it. Another one can be the kershaw skyline I'll take that over the delica.

I like both, but IMO the Delica carries a bit easier. I also prefer the FFG Delica over the Saber-ground Delica. The only question about the mini-Grip I might have are the long-term durability of the Omega springs, though I've never had any issues on my Axis locks.

Can't go wrong either way - both very god edc's. I have both and would take the Delica over the Mini Grip simply because you don't have to worry about omega springs breaking. (and yes, I've had to send in the mini grip to have the springs replaced)

The delica's handle is a little longer, which is good for me. And the Delica is a little slimmer to me. But both are good EDCs.
