NGK's description of the 556S says the knife has 440C steel. I assume this is just a typo since BM made the switch from 440C to 154CM way back in 2006. Is my assumption correct? I mention this because I want to order a 556S with 154CM. If I do buy BM 556S, will the box show the type of steel used?

Yep, and so will the blade! I'd contact them first before ordering in case they're just clearing out older stock.

Lunk, I just saw this post. All of the BM556S's we have in stock are 154CM. I have updated our info to reflect the steel change. When companies change steels, it is difficult for us to keep the specs up to date. Thanks for the heads-up.
