Hello,

This was my first Benchmade and my first knife over $100. I bought it at a big brand store in Colorado. I was not familiar with Benchmade at the time, I knew the name but never really looked at one. after handling it for a few minutes I decided to buy it. It was on sale at the time of purchase but after having all this time it would not have bothered me to pay retail.

After looking it over really well I noticed that one of the screws for the scale was a little too long, a few passes on a coarse stone and the screw sat flush with the liners just like the others, it made a very tiny scratch on the blade that can only bee seen in really bright light at certain angles. The blade centered well and had a decent edge.

I put a 30 degree edge on it it and honed it until it cut paper smoothly. It holds an edge well and sharpens fairly easily. I stuck it into some scrap 1x6 wood a couple of times about a half inch deep and pushed sideways on the knife trying to break the tip, it didn't bend or break, it just kept prying out chunks of wood. after 5 or 6 time of stabbing the wood it split along the grain. This wasn't any real test or anything I was just messing around and nothing I would do with it or any knife again.

The lock is very sturdy and smooth. Blade deployment is quick and smooth. I really like that the safety is centered on the back. It opens with quite a bit of force and even has some recoil.

The G10 scales are nice, I've held the knife with cold, wet, bloody and dirty hands, never slipped or felt like I was losing grip. The clip can be bolted to either side and is quite sturdy.

Over all the knife is perfect for me and led to the purchase of two other benchmade knives (That I'll be reviewing also). It feels heavy for its size but I like it a lot. Its rugged and tough but quick and easy to open. It is a little undersized if you have really large hands, I wear XL work gloves and fits me well, one of my friends wears XXL gloves and felt it was a little small.

Any questions or comments are welcome, I will be updating this over time (every few months).
