Benchmade 586 question.

In a process of buying Benchmade 586 but would like to know if I can take the assisted spring out(think that can be done ) and also the backspacer with safety stopper can it be removed so the knife can have open back just with standoffs.Thanks.

As far as I know, the locking part has to come out when you take the spring out, though I am not 100%. That part takes up around 1/2" of back spacer.
I have done this to my 581 and 585. Now very smooth indeed. In regards to the rest of the back spacer, I think I have seen something on this forum about that.
I'm sure some others will ring in as well.
