Benchmade 586?

I like the two that I have. They fire fast, the F&F is very good, and BM's M390 is easy to work with. They're just a tad small for me, esp. since the Volli is readily available. I carry that more than just about anything these days. but the 586s are a very nice product.

I like the full-size Barrage, but I'm not crazy about the mini-Barrage. At that size, I like the mini-Griptilian more. The mini-Barrage just didn't feel quite right. It is kind of bulky for a small knife, so it isn't as comfortable in pocket. The handle is also shorter, and combined with its shape, it just didn't feel quite right in hand. Of course, carrying and handling preferences can vary a lot, so take that as an opinion from just one person. Build-wise, the one I have definitely feels well made.

Love my 586. It was the first BM I ever got.

That said, I just dont carry it much anymore, since I have so many other options now. I also dont really love the design as much as I used to, but thats just personal preference. If the 586 is what you like, then by all means, go for it man. Theres really not much bad to be said about it, and BM's warranty and CS are really good. They offered to help when I screwed mine up a while ago trying to deassist it. Good people making good products:thumbup:

Oh and the M390 continues to impress me whenever I DO use it. Still my favorite steel

The 586 is the classiest, most beautiful folder I've handled for under $200.

I wish more knives had bolsters, and the G10 on the 581 and 586 looks like wood.

Benchmade does M390 just right.
