I have a few knives, and I have been collecting for the past 20 years. The best production knives I have come across is the Benchmade 630 "Skirmish".
Benchmade is a great knife company. Benchmade is best known for the axis-lock, which is a triumph in industrial design. Even though the 630 doesn't have the axis-lock it is still an example of what Benchmade is all about.
The 630 is a prefect storm. It has tons of aspects that make it head and shoulders above the rest.
Spyderco and Kershaw collaborated on a knife called the Spyker. A Ken Onion designed knife with some Spyderco esstetics built in. That knife has a very similar silhouette to the skirmish. Add the s30v and titanium configuration of the Sebenza and you have a skirmish. The skirmish is also about the same size and heft as a ZT or Strider.
In the end you get a knife that resembles a custom knife , that is tough enough too be military issued all packed into a ascetically beautiful package.
