what do we think of this knife ppl?
"Benchmade 635 Mini-Skirmish "

how much is it worth ?
what is monolock?

"Titanium Handle, with Monolock

S30V Blade (3.43”, plain edge, satin)
" is this correct?

Great knife. Mono-lock is the same as a frame lock.

Although I've only handled one a few times, I was very impressed. On about half of them, the lock locked up so tight it was pretty hard to unlock it. I assume that would go away with use.

Check out this link for more information on the mono-lock.

Your specs are correct. As to how much it's worth, it sells for 135 on knifeworks.

Ahh... search around. certain sites are more expensive then others. If you can afford it, I'd recommend it.

its not the knife i want though, but if its good ill get it anyway.
I WANT AN HD-7!

Good knife. Especailly good for a titanium frame lock of this size and quality for the price. You can easily find it for $120-$150 USD on the net.

Two points that are most commonly criticised as its faults.
1) it is tip down carry only
2) no lanyard hole

While it is a good knife and i would choose it over the HD-7, you should get what you want and not just get a knife if its good.

that is somethin im not quite sure of. can you give me a pic or describe tip down tip up. on tip down , is the pivot at the top?

meh, 30 mins to go on ebay. i think ill just wait for a nice BLACk HD-7 with wave (and combo blade) to come up for sale thats willing to post international

edit lol

i want this one "Emerson HD7 BT Plain Edge
EM-HD7-BT-PE
"

I had one & thought it was a very good knife. I always thought of it as a "poor man's" Sebenza (Until I got a Bradley Alias II, that is). It has a great blade to handle length ratio & of course it's made of premium parts (Titanium frame lock & S30V blade).

There was only 2 things that I didn't care for.
1. Tip down carry.
2. The thumb hole was quite small & gave my large hands problems opening it.

Other tha that, it's a very good knife. I would think if you can pick one up for under $150 from an internet store or <$130 on the net, you should be doing fine.

Here's a picture of both my Mini Skirmish and Spyderco Native. The MS is only a little larger than the Native , but for some reason feels like a larger knife in-hand. This particular MS is a limited edition I bought on closeout last year. I never really cared for the gray finished MS. I got this one because it was different and the price was right. The quality is top notch and what one would expect from Benchmade. The clip placement doesn't matter to me.

I own three Emerson knives and while I do like them very much, BM definitely wins the fit & finish contest.

Last year, I considered buying the Emerson HD 7, but something about the ti side put me off. I really can't say what it was.... they just look a little rough in terms of design. Of course it's subjective and quite a few guys here really like them, I think the Emerson would be a better choice for a strong folder.

Tip-down is the proper way to carry IF you want to draw the knife and open it in the fewest steps. The Skirmish was designed by Neil Blackwood who still makes it (apart from Benchmade). All of his knives are made tip-down carry.

I have a mini-Skirmish and love it. Slim (in the waistband carry), tip-down (!!!), large S30V blade, nice, tight lockup.

I received a BM Rukus for CHristmas. It's clipped for tip-up carry. I had to make a sheath for it and remove the clip. Tip-up is fine, I'm just so used to drawing the knife and having it ready to open that I couldn;t adjust.
