I'm just wondering ... Why do so many people HATE this knife, and call it Benchmade JUNK ? I know you guys are in-titled to your own Opinion, but I have heard several NEGATIVE comments about this knife and really just wondering what you don't like about it, if you don't...I guess , I have been apart of more Negative comments about the 670 Apparition, than I have good comments. I for one have it, and like it alot....I'm not amazed by it, but it is one of my favorites...

Let's hear it ..
Be cool, J.J.

I don't hate 'em :D

Yeah but you only have 7 of them instead of 20. If you REALLY liked them you would have 3 times that many. :D:D

And I am only one person speaking against them. I don't think you should necessarily equate that with hatred of the knife although they definitely aren't as popular.

They didn't come out in that many variations :D

On a more serious note. Just because I don't hate 'em doesn't mean I'm a big fan. IMO 672 (first on the left) is a better carry knife. 670 is nice, but there really isn't a niche for it in my rotation. It's too nice to be a beater, yet too heavy to be a dress knife. The idea was great, but execution suffered.

Your not the only one I've been told by that Totally hates them...Not trying to start an APPARITION WAR , if anyone thinks of it that way, then ...MODS ...Please lock this...I'm just looking for Opinions. :D

I think that if they are not as popular as expected, it is probably due to the lock failures on the early production runs. Other comments heard were the 'plastic' appearance and feeling of the scales. Each to their own, but I think the knife looks fine.

I never really liked the design, although I have never quite held one in my hands. That is quite the collection though, RxEnergy. I've never really heard the hate against the Apparition, but I don't think it's the nicest BM design.

ive had 3 or 4 of them go thorugh my hands and i like them, they are a bit heavy for my edc criteria. i do still have a 672 and someday will get another 670. ive noticed that on ebay there is a bit more demand for them than as early as last year, i just sold my last one for $135 on the bay and i snagged it for $65 on the forums.

Nicce...

I have a 672 that I carry in my back pocket as a backup. Doesn't get used as much back there. It would be a much better knife with a few changes. IMO the thumb stud is too big and has a habit of getting hung up when cutting deep on the blade. A full flat grind would also make a world of difference. I don't hate it though, just deal with its differences.

I've got the S30V CF scaled LE version - too heavy, thicker than it looks in pictures.

I also find the thumbstuds a bit hard to use to initialize the assisted opening - too small and set too close to the bolster.

Those are the reasons I don't like it, and for which I MIGHT finally end up selling it. But not yet, I still like it more than I dislike it.

I have a friend who has one and I had never seen/held/heard of the 670 until I wielded his. It is used and used hard. He reprofiled the edge and had to sharpen a new tip on it do to it snapping after dropping it. All in all I love the size and ergonomics of the knife. After reading the model number I searched on here and as you found there were so many negative things said about it.

I was looking to buy one, if I could find one. But after all the negative comments it has fallen off my radar a bit. But I really do love the feel of the knife in hand. I have to say though that the Spring Assist Bar does rattle loose while the knife was open. This could be because of the years of use.

I could not find much information on how much these go for let alone find any on eBay.

Oh and for the record the 670 with black machined g10 is the exact same texture as that of the BM710.

If you think that is nice you should see the rest of it. If you want to see some great Benchmades he is the man.

It's got a distinguished look. That's all I can think of. Kind
of love it or hate it appearance. I don't know about the
quality or anything, never handled one.

It's not crap, but compared to other BMs, AND it's price, it's crap.
Yeah, I HATE THAT fake Buffalo horn finish. If you want to texture plastic, texturize it... DON'T cheap it by making it look like fake horn.
Also, it just didn't float my boat. The liner didn't seem real sturdy, and I think the bolster is aluminum. No thanks.
I handled one when it first came out, I thought it was going to be awesome, I was so disappointed.

thanks...That's what I was looking for...Real opinions on why people dislike this BENCHMADE (OSBORNE/PARDUE Design) knifes.

Why do you guys think, that so many other OSBORNE/PARDUE designs...are so popular? and why this one seemed to bust, in alot of peoples eyes?

a) This is NOT a Pardue design.
b) All the arguments have already been presented. IMHO :)

Hey Rx,
I have a couple of 670's in my collection, the G-10 plain edge in D2 and the 154CM standard model. I was always under the assumption that it was a Pardue/Osborne collaboration also, and many website descriptions of the knife mention this. Was Pardue not involved like so many think?

It wouldn't matter much to me anyway, since I've always preferred Osborne's designs more anyway:D Just curious.
