Benchmade 690 off center?

I've had knives all my life, this is the first time I've bought a knife that is in this price range.

I just got a Benchmade 690. Out of the box, with the blade closed, the tip of the blade was visibly much closer to the liner away from the lock side. I decided the action was a little too tight for my liking, so I loosened the pivot a bit and got the blade to actually make contact with the liner.

As an experiment, I tightened the pivot as far as I could which prevents the knife from opening and the blade is still not centered.

I've got a cheap Gerber AR that is perfectly centered, but I though, OK the springiness of the Benchmade liner is much greater, maybe it is pushing the blade over and that's just the way it is.

So my long winded question here is, is an uncentered blade on a 690 normal and I should just live with it?

I have a 690 and it is centered fine but then I have 750 and only the tip of the knife is not centered and almost touches. I dunno..............R

Send it back to Benchmade. They will fix or replace it for you. The 690 is one of my favorite models and it should have no such flaws. Let us know how they take care of ya.
