benchmade 705 in the satin or bt finish?

Points in that decision:

- your preference, per se. Also bear in mind the Teflon is going to scratch and wear FAST, as jonmok indicates. So you'll be left with another look again (you might like the 'character');

- reaction around the traps from others. Black will tend to have more a 'sinister' connotation, overall;

- reflection. If you are a 'Black Ops' person this might matter to you;

- rust. That is the primary reason for BT2 (the black). On a 154CM blade though? No special need, unless the environments in which the knife would be used have some major concerns in that regard. If we were talking a steel like M2, however, then that is another matter again.

My own clear preference would be satin. That would apply a bit more with that particular model, even.

I really don't like the look of Black Teflon. It's a personal thing I know, but the only coatings that I like are Boron Carbide and Tungsten DLC. They let some of the character of the stell show through. Black Teflon does not.

Actually, my experience has been that most people see the black coating as giving the knife a classier look - at least, while it is in it's pristine state :rolleyes: It probably has more to do with the shape of the knife than the coating on the knife...

Of course, that's just around here in South Carolina where knives are not normally seen as weapons except by the transplants from parts north :rolleyes: :D :p :D :rolleyes:
