Wow, Benchmade really does make some nice knives.
I got the McHenry & Williams 710HS a few weeks ago after a one year hiatus from buying knives. I had bought a Allen Elishewitz 910BT Stryker 3 years ago, and a Mel Pardue 720BT last year. Around that time, I started spending lots of money on Surefire lights (which are so AWESOME btw), so laid off knives...until now.
I couldn't resist the 710HS after seeing so many positive reviews. I had to have one for my EDC. Boy, this knife is amazing! It feels absolutely huge, and feels much larger than the Stryker. I realize the Sifu eclipses the 710 in size, but Sifu's are illegal in NYC, and 710's are within the 4" max.
In fact, I started to feel that the 710 is TOO big to be my EDC. I work in a corporate environment, and I didn't think the sheeple would take too well to it.
So what happens?? I ordered the M&W 705BT and received it today. Awesome! Just like the larger one, but scaled down into a nice sheeple-friendly size. Boy, the 705 sure feels over-engineered for such a little knife.
Interestingly, while the 710's action is smooth, both the 705 and 720 are smoother. I guess it's true that BM has tweaked the Axis lock with every new model.
I do have one small caveat though. The 710 arrived with the blade off-center between the handles. This was pretty easy to fix. I just "bent" it in the open position to the same side it favored while closed (as suggested by another thread). I'd experienced this before with my 910, and was a little disappointed to see that off-centeredness is still a problem sometimes. In constract, my 720 and 705 both came perfect. Oh well!
So, in the end, the 705 will be my EDC, and the 710 will be my EWEC (every weekend carry
). Don't y'all love CHOICES?
Btw, of the four BMs I have now, the 720 is still my absolute favorite. Such nice action, such a nice handle. I love it!

P.S. If you've read to this part of my boring post, I salute you!
