Well I recently got my 707, and I'm looking to compare it to the RRF (manual edition) which I do not have. Though I haven't handled it, my readings about the RRF have truly impressed me. It seems to have just about every feature I could want in a knife (including that great little thumb groove). Thus, I want YOUR impressions (of the RRF), and I'll give ya'll mine (of the 707). If you have both, your opinion is extemely valuable.

RRF OWNERS (non auto): Please tell me what you think of the THICKNESS of the knife. Is it suitable for EDC, or does it feel like a big metal bulge digging into your leg when you lean on it?

MY 707 IMPRESSIONS: This little knife is swiftly growing on me. :D Originally, I reconsidered this purchase because I despise tip up carry, and that's the only clip option on the 707. However, tip up be damned, it's a hell of a knife.
Compared to my other blades, the 707 is diminuitive. The whole knife (closed) is completely concealed when I wrap my fist around it. If I ever figure out how to post pictures on here, I'll show you it next to my black standard lighter. It is less than 1/2 inch taller than the lighter, and much thinner. In fact, the 707 is thin enough to allow its wearer to completely forget about it. THIS ASPECT IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO COMPARE WITH THE RRF. PLEASE ASSIST ME. Unlike my AFCK, I don't feel like I'm lugging around cargo when I have the 707 clipped to my belt.
As small as the 707 is though, it works. The blade shaves, and the bald spots on my arm are starting to take over. Axis lock up is so solid (and LOUD) that it sounds like it must be coming from a larger knife. The clip is so tight and secure that it could probably stop an alligator's death roll. I'm not sure what that means exactly, but the clip is good... it's real good. Simply speaking, the thing looks like a toy, but performs like a tool. My only disappointment is the moderate horizontal bladeplay. Has anyone else experienced 707 blade play?

Thanks in advance for your help on the comparison. :o

In my opnion the RRF is PERFECT for EDC!! I hardly notice it in my pocket!! The lock up on my RRF is rock solid, no blade play AND perfectly centered
The RRF is smaller than you think it is. It has dual thumb studs, a low ride clip, that I LOVE. And when it locks up, it locks up solid. And it feels awesome in the hand. I hope this helps you. Yes, mine IS a manul.

Appreciate your comments, and that sounds promising, but "hardly notice" doesn't even begin to describe the 707. This blade practically DEMATERIALIZES when I clip it to my jeans. I doubt the two are in the same ballpark in terms of thickness, but who knows. Can anyone who has held (or owned) both compare?

It has such a low ride clip, and the size that it is, you won't even notice it is in your pocket. I hope someone else can chime in that has both!

I have been carrying the RRF for about three weeks now. The clip allows for a much lower in pocket location than it would appear the 707 clip does. I agree with TKC about the qualities of the RRF. I visited my local dealer but unfortunatly he didn't have the 707. I also think the S30V versus 154CM steels favors the RRF. The RRF does have 3/8 of an inch more blade. The thickness is not an issue for me. Being that the knife is a framelock it doesn't have liners to add width. Maybe you could find a local dealer to check out the RRF. Mine was a gift and it became a favorite right from the word go. Mine is an assisted opener BTW. Happy hunting.

I LOVE my RRF!! Mine has been with me since it arrived on Christmas!! I LOVE titanium and I LOVE framelocks!! This IS an amazing knife!! No picture does it justice!!

I do oh so wish that I could find someone here that has one so I could check them out, but top quality knives seem like they are getting to be increasingly scarce in retail stores. Boo. Bad knife stores...no purchase for you.

All the same though, would you mind comparing the thickness to your other knives? If you compare the RRF's girth to any of your other knives, it will help give me an idea. The stats are really limited for RRFs in the net.

It is a hair wider than my large Sebenza. Does that help? Why don't you E-mail or call Combat Elite, or Darrel Ralph for that matter.
