Sorry if this has already been posted, but could someone that has the benchmade 707 and Spyderco Manix 2 please offer an opinion between the two. I only have money for one of them (I would be EDCing this). Thanks!

There's a pretty big size difference between those two so I'm not sure they make a very good comparison. But for small EDC chores I'd choose the 707 because of the AXIS, thinner blade, and the smaller size is more people friendly. If you live where knives don't draw a lot of attention and need a bigger knife the Manix 2 would probably fit the bill.

Both excellent knives. I would say Manix 2 is more of a hard use knife and 707 is a gentlemen folder. If you do a lot of heavy cutting then go for Manix. Very secure grip, thicker blade. 707 is great for lighter tasks, carrying in the office environment. It looks great and is very sheeple friendly.

I agree. I have a Sequel and it's a good EDC, but I don't think of it as being as tough as the Manix (although my Manix's are first-generations).

Some people say that all Benchmades look alike, but I don't think the 707 looks like the 710.

Too bad Benchmade no longer makes the 705. That's the closest to the 710.

I would go for the Manix2, as I've owned both. IMO, the 707 is a great little knife, but I find the handle just a bit cramped. The M2 is quite a bit larger, but doesn't carry like a bigger knife in pocket. I actually like knives closer to the size of the 707, but if I could only have one knife, I would choose the more substantial Manix2. I also like the G-10 on Spyderco over Benchmade.

I have both.

The 707 is much smaller than the Manix 2.

For a small, office type of use, I'd go 707. Or, if you like smaller knives, the 707 is dandy.

For outdoor-sie activities, I'd go Manix 2. It is just a size issue as for outdoor activities seem to require a more hand-filling handle.

That has already been alluded to, though.
