stopped in to gander mtn today to check out some of the knives. I didn't really have the intent to purchase but I spotted a BM 707 sequal mis-marked as a mini-grip so I snatched it up. it was $79.99 which would have been a rip off for the grip but seemed like a damn good deal for the 707. I'm normally a spyderco guy but couldn't let this one pass by. Seems like a really solid little knife. so solid in fact that it might just replace my Delica4 as my EDC. What's everyone's thoughts on this knife?

At 80.00, you got yourself a good little knife. I never got the warm fuzzies from the handle, but it was a nice knife just the same. BM does a great job on HT with 154CM. Enjoy!

That's a good deal. I do not have a 707 but I have several other BMs--Congrats on a good find!

Have a 707s, it is a very nice little knife- slim, easy to carry, sheeple friendly (if that is an issue), very smooth action and of course the axis lock is solid as a rock. Aluminum scales on mine show a few dings and scratches, but they are solid; I figure it just gives the knife character. IMHO, the blade on the 707 and the mini grip are very similar. Yeah, I'd say for $80 you did fine :)

Interesting - does the 707 have full internal skeleton - versus the grips partial?

Is there a version with G10 or plastic outside.

Basically I like the idea of a grip with flatter scales - is the 707 what comes closest?

The 707 has full liners. If you want one with G10 scales look for a BM16707BK. It was the Blackwater version of the 707, also made by Benchmade. If I am correct they are discontinued but some on line delears still have them. The 707 or the 16707 make a very nice EDC knife. The 707/16707 are just about the same size as the Mini Grips that also have full liners.

710 and 707 are two of my favorites, I have absolutely no idea why I ever got rid of them. I had a 705, found cheap at a knife club meeting, but got rid of it. All three are great users. I would like to see a large version of the 707, I like the blade shape over the 710's.
