Hello, this is my first post and I would like to thank everyone here at Bladeforums, especially the staff. I do not remember how I found the site, but I am glad I did. I now have a basic knowledge of knives and of many of the steels that are used in them. I have also listened to everyone's varying opinions on knife companies and their knives. About 6 weeks ago I bought by first "good knife" (I chose a Benchmade 530) and have been carrying and using it ever since.

I do not think I am going to buy another Benchmade soon, but I was just interested in the 710. From searching I have found that for the m2 version both the BT2 and BK1 coatings have been used. Does anyone know if any other coating have been used on the 710? Are all the coatings black? (I was thinking there was a gray coating for some reason) Has anyone that has used more than one coating noticed a difference in corrosion resistance? Sorry for all the questions, thanks again everyone at Bladeforums.

Maybe you've seen pictures of users? Warn coatings may appear grey, with the coating usually still in good shape near the tang. I have never seen a BM with any blade coating other than black.

Benchmade's BC coating was more of a grey than black. I do not think they ever put it on a 710 though. I know it was on the 690, 770, special editions of the 94X series....I'm not sure what else though.
