Benchmade 710 BK Blade Question

I just received a NIB BM 710BK from knifeworks.com and the blade is marked different than the last one I ordered. The blade is just marked D2 rather than the last one that has D2BK1 on it. Is this a old knife with the old BK finish on it or did Benchmade stop marking new BK1 finished knives with the logo on it? The box is also marked 710 BK I don't recall if the box on the other knife was marked 710 BK1. I would be bummed if it does not have the new BK1 finish because from what I have read it offers better protection and wear resistance. I noticed on my buddy's 710 with the old finish it is marked D2BK on the blade so what's the deal?

I would not be too concerned about the issue. Benchmade has made mistakes with the etching before and it does sound like might be the case. But BK is BK and will protect the knife.

I would still make sure the edge of the blade is kept clean and dry...D2 is a semi-stainless steel and there's a good reason to coat it against corrosion.

And I would say that Roger from KW is tops in the biz, if you have any questions please give 'em a call, it's worth it for your piece of mind.
