The Benchmade AXIS lock knife that started it all. The 710 McHenry and Williams design was the winner of the knife of the year in 1999. A straight forward, no nonsense large bladed knife. Simple and clean looking.

•Blade Length: 3.90"
•Overall Length/Closed Length: 8.80" / 4.90"
•Blade Material/Hardness: D2 Steel/ 58-61 HRC...
•Blade Style: Modified Clip-Point; Ambidextrous

The 710 was my first BM 11 years ago and still my favorite.
KW should do another exclusive!

It was my first Benchmade folder and my most recent. I think it is a classic in the line.
Thanks for the post and photo's, Frank.

I was trying to decide between this knife and the BM 940. I ended up getting the 940, but will own a 710 some day. It seems like one of those 'must haves' for a collection.

Wow, that was prescient. I was trying to decide between another 710 or the 810-1401, went with the 810 now can get the 710-1401!

I've had a few nicks in my d2 710 from not so hard use, okay I baby my 710 and leave the hard stuff to my beater knives that I make in the garage.

All right, I couldn't resist. Just ordered my first 710 (its also my first non-auto Benchmade).

Classic knives. Here's a pic of a few of mine, last count I own five variants:

If one collected anything Benchmade, these should be on the list of must haves.
