I keep hearing that Benchmade has discontinued the 710D2. I have heard that on and off for about six months but lately I have heard it more often.

Does anyone here know?

Thanks,
TG

P.S. The Benchmade web site says they are still being made.

As far as I know they got rid of the M2 version, and the D2 is the replacement.

That would be bad. I have a hunch that if it was true, it would be all over these forums. That knife is considered a modern classic.

That knife IS a modern classic. I love the hell out of mine. I wish there were more knives out there that were as good.

The 710 in D2 is listed on the benchmade website, with a note saying upgraded steel for '06. They're not listed as discontinured. Rest easy.

I have the D2 version but I'd like to see the M2 ver. back. I think they won't be discontinuing the D2 ver. yet.

Agree on the Carbon fiber!

What order were they produced in? I thought it was:

M2 - Discont'd
154CM - Discont'd
D2 - Current (I love mine)

Just got a D2 one about a week ago. This is my first BM at this level (others are the Grips). This is one NICE knife. I normally don't carry this large on me, usually in my Fatboy, but I've been carrying it clipped and carries surprisingly well for a folder this size. I was expecting it to be sharper out of the box - it was working sharp - but it was nothing that my Sharpmaker didn't care of:D
