Yesterday I bought a Benchmade 710 D2. I have been wanting to add this piece to my collection for quite some time. When I got it home and took it out of the box I noticed that the blade ever so slightly touched the liner.

The retailer I bought it from is very ornery when it comes to returns so I'm hesitant to take it back. I've seen this offset in other knives I have though never to this degree (my Kershaw Clash that I disassembled to clean and then never folded again properly for one). Probably a newbie question but is this a common issue and is it something I can fix myself?

I don't know if it's common, all my BM knives have been darn near perfectly centered. I'm not sure how you would go about fixing this yourself (I'm sure someone will be along in just a few that does know) but I KNOW BM will fix that for you no problem if you send it in. I would still take it back to the store where you bought it and try to exchange it but if that doesn't work BM will take care of you. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Shouldn't make a difference if there's no blade-play when opened, unless blade is heavily rubbing liner and getting marred-up.

There is a bit of blade play when opened and it does rub the liner a bit. I was mainly wondering if this was minor/common thing or if its more of a bent frame issue. I suppose if the retailer makes a big fuss I'll send it in to Benchmade. It was razor sharp out of the box like all my other Benchmades either.

My 710s came horridly off center also. Each one. I used this method to center them all perfectly. :)
