Which one should I get? Which one would be better for every day use? I will be my EDC and I will mostly just use it for general use which for me is cutting paper, cardboard, rope, and anything else that needs cutting. :D So your opinions are greatly apreciated.

The 520 is the Pardue Axis Lock, which is a bit chunky for my taste, and the traction cutouts in the middle of the handle are very aggressive. The 710 has to be one of the all time favorite knives of mine. Lots of blade length for the handle size, excellent blade, light weight, and the g-10 handles are nice in the hand. My recommendation would be the 710 HS, if you want the best slicer.

You cant go wrong with either one. Years ago, I was deciding between these two as well and I went with a 710 HS. The M2 steel is hard to beat and the knife has stood up to alot of abuse. I got a 520 Plain Edge not to long ago and find it fits my hand better than the 710 though. Try handling them both if you can and decide based on that. If you decide on the 710, get the M2 steel. Either way, youre probably going to end up owning both someday.

Considering the use i would recommend the 710 in 154CM it is enough. But we are here at a knife forum so i will recommend the 710 HS too.

If you can handle both, handle both.

But from your very general description the 710 is easier to carry in pockets.

From the tool in your hand aspect the 520 is hard to beat and i bet there will be a M2 version some day. Benchmade would be brainsick not to come out with one.

The grip remains secure even though the bite on your trouser looses in short time. My pants and i have no problems.

I carry a 5000A and a 520 (but with a custom blade) since two years every day.

I use both and cary both and well it's kind of a toss up.

The 710HS is great, slim, good blade lenght and great cutter. You will be hard pressed to find something better out there, it is a tried and true knife that is loved by many and I have not seen many bad reviews or negative comments about it.

The 520 is also a good knife but like many say it is a little on the chunky side of things. The other big complaint is the shorter blade. The 520 looks odd sometimes because the blade is not as long as it could be.

This said, I would have a hard time picking one over the other but I think the 710HS would win out everytime for the simple fact that it is the king of Benchmades lineup.

As long as it could be...

The blade of the 520 is as long as it could. Just 1 mm is left. Truly, it looks like the blade is too short. Yes it does. But my custom is just 1 mm longer and in the closed position, the tip is easy to touchyou just need to press slightly in the blade canal.

The handle spine is longer than the bottom, thats all.

@ thebladeguy,

considering what most ppl. say here and Nimravus in special, the 710HS should be your choice. Considering your name, it must be your choice :), for the 520 is mostly praised for the handle, but the 710 for the blade.
