Benchmade 710 or 806D2 for EDC?

Purpose, Usage, Carry Law?

General cutting, in office environment or farm?
Self Defence, in towns or cities?
Police hostile to knife carry or not?

For general use and selfdefence get the 710 in HS

For selfdefence and general use get the 806D2 in serrated edge.

Both! :D

I love them both, but the 710 is more suited for utility, while the 806D2 is better for defense.

Spot on...

Chances you need a knife for utility use....100%
Chances you need a knife for self defense...well not so much.

I would suggest the 710. :)

They are both excellent knives and are capable of both utilitarian and defensive uses. The question you have to ask yourself is which fits your hand better. Which is more comfortable and gives you the most secure grip? Nobody has your own individual hand size and shape except you, unless your last name is Frankenstein:D I carry both knives regularly, along with my new 551 drop point Griptilian. The 551 is a great EDC! I never cared for the modified Wharncliffe 550, but this new version is awesome!
I have massive hands with stuffed sausages for fingers. My wedding band is size 13.5! But my thumb is fairly short. I usually use the sabre grip when handling my knife. The way the top of the handle swells on the 710 works really well for me. The jimping provides plenty of traction. The 710 has been my all around favorite hard use EDC ever since it came out. The bottom line is, don't take the word of others as to which fits best. Handle each yourself. If that means going to a shop or two, or a show or two, it still will save you money in the long run to get exactly what you want the first time.
Next you have to choose plain edge or comboedge. This is a matter of personal preference and is often a scource of debate on the forums. Personally, I like the comboedge. I use the serrations for cutting strapping and reinforced tape, and keep the primary edge clean and sharp for more fine work. Some folks think a comboedge is just plain ugly, but that was never a concern for me.
Hope this helps.

I think Double Edge Dave was right, but I have to say that the 806D2 handle feels more secure in my hand.

I just ordered the 806D2, it came down to being able to carry tip up or tip down (I am used to tip down carry).

Thanks :) for all the great input.
