Hey guys, I'm sure there has been a thread like this in the past, but I wanted to start my own since everyone has different needs. I carry a Vic pioneer every day and it does everything I need. That said, the two knives mentioned are more for fun, and just in case I run across some larger task that might be easier with one of them. Could anyone that has both give me some insight into which they prefer, and why? Thanks for your time.

I like the 710 because how little pocket room it takes up. The 350 is an excellent knife. I've only carried it a handful of times and the bulk really is there. I carry a number of things in my pockets so minimizing the size is a necessity. I also don't like assisted opening anymore due to some obvious accidents that comes with assisted openings. I prefer a 710 for EDC. You get a little bit more reach and it's rather compact. Axis lock is just excellent all around. However, I would not use it beyond just cutting. They both sport good recurves so it'll be the same sharpening pain if you have just stones. They are both excellent for the money. It's honestly down to specific preference: a/o vs manual, axis vs liner,& bulk vs slender. Hope that helps.

The 710 had a great blade/grip ratio and gives you a very long blade for handle size. I have one, NIB, in D2. The 710's blade is perhaps a bit more fragile, given a longer, but thinner blade than the 350.. I've had and gifted many 350's, mostly in S30V, and they are bull-strong and fun to operate. You can even find a 350 in M390 which is an outstanding blade-steel. I'd go for that.

I am more in the favor of narrower blades lately: I do not feel like a wide blade adds anything to a knife, except for extra bulk. So I would not necessarily go for BM 710 as EDC these days due to the price point, but from the choice you offer: that would be it.

Although I own and EDC a ZT framelock. Of those two id rather have the 710 as it is just extremely useful. It has a long blade that cuts very well for being so narrow and for its length is carries very well. The handles are just not as comfy as the 0350 if that matters. But I would not choose either of them in that price range after owning both. Id rather own a grip 551 if I were to get a benchmade. And for the price an 0200 if you looking for a sweet liner lock.

0350 is a tank and it feels like one in your pocket. If you want to pry up nails or hammer your knife through the hood of a car, the 0350 is a solid option. For EDC, though, go with the 710. Lightweight, compact, huge blade for the size, axis lock is fantastic and it's really a nice slicer. Someone mentioned the M390 0350 and that's a great steel, but I'd counter with the 710 in CPM M4 from knifeworks.

I love my 710, its the only knife I've carried every single day since I got it, I have other knives that should compete with it for pocket time but they don't even come close. I carry it in my back left pocket and don't even notice it. Its also the folder I have the most confidence in, its a freaking tank, the tip might look a little thinner than on the 0350 but I have never once felt it was weak or been worried about it breaking.

Axis > liner
Blade profile (even tho they're both recurve's)
Manual > A/O
Pocket space

Be sure to get a deep carry clip for it from BM (they're free, just email a request)

Heck I'd counter with the 710 in M390 if you can find one (tho M4 is nice too, I'd rather the M390 personally).

If the Pioneer takes care of your practical needs, then I'd lean towards the 0350. I have both, and between the two, the ZT is more fun. It has a great overbuilt and slightly excessive feel to it. The 710 is a fine knife and would be a good EDC blade, but if you're looking for something that's more fun (and still functional as a knife), the ZT gets my pick.

I went with the 710. Plain edge, satin blade. I love it already. It's super smooth, and locks up rock solid. It's easy to see why this is a Benchmade classic. Now to replace that backspaces with barrel spacers, and replace the painted clip with a parkerized one. That's for the advice guys.

Glad you like it. Hopefully it will be my next purchase too.

Over in Benchmade subforum, there is a thread dedicated to customized Benchmades, some of the pics of 710s make you just drool. Just to show you personal favourite of mine (Keyman's scales and Benchmade's arrow clip):

You can get the LE 0350 from KW. It's an absolute workhorse. I've had mine for a few months and I've honestly abused the heck out of it and it keeps coming back for more. Since the recent price raise on Benchmade knives you might be able to get the 0350 cheaper than a 710 if you decide to. It's about $180 shipped on KW.
