Hey so i just got a benchmade 710 brand new and when it is closed it rattles. Open it is sturdy and locks up tight. I tried to isolate what it was and i think it has something to do with the axis lock but im not to sure, any help?

after looking more i realized that its the metal sleeve on the stop pin. it doesnt seem wide enough and the scales dont press on it. i have to tighten the pivot to the point where the blade doesnt come out for it to stop.

Solutions?

The solution in that thread was a tiny drop of loctite between the sleeve and stop pin, applied with a toothpick.
Good luck!

New stop pin if it really bothers you and it sounds like it does.

Sometimes an undersized stop pin will get threw and make that rattle. I've had it happen on other brand knives before so I'm familiar with it. Doesn't effect anything functionally but can be annoying.

As suggested you can either loctite it in place or send it in for warranty repair and they will fix it or return it to the dealer for replacement.

Only problem with Loc-tite is the stop pin is designed to rotate to allow of wear. I have one or two that rattle but it's no big deal...but if it Is a problem for you Benchmade will repair the problem for you under warranty.

Floating stop pins are nice because they distribute wear each and every time the blade is locked open.

Had this situation with one of my old Griptilians. I tightened the pivot a bit more and it seemed to silence the rattle. If you like to keep your pivot nice and loose (for that smooth axis blade closure) then you may not prefer this method.
