Benchmade 710 without recurve

I just bought this knife. I didn't know that the 710 came without a recurve in the beginning, but can't find much history. This blade reads:

FIRST PRODUCTION RUN
1 of 1000

It's ATS-34 steel and has the Bali-Song butterfly logo on the other side.

Does anyone know the history of this knife?

Maybe it's just the picture, but it actually does look like there was some recurve to it. Looks like some guy reground the blade to take away the recurve, something that I've read about before.
 
Nope, there's no recurve, but you may be right about somebody grinding the recurve out, although I don't see any evidence of that. There are some odd scratches on the blade that were made in sets, but I can't tell what made them.
 
Interesting.

I'd like to see it fully open, since I have a couple of NIB 710 knives where the recurve isn't much evident except for the last bit of blade.
 
It is straighter than any of mine, but two of my 710 knives come pretty close. One is a ats-34 version and the other is a M2 version. You have to look carefully on these to see any recurve.

It isn't like the 710 has a particularly emphasized recurve.

It could simply have been a "boo-boo" due to the factory hand sharpening.
 
If you look at the fully opened blade, you'll see that strange set of scratches about two-thirds back on the swedge. Were the light different, you'd see a similar set of scratches going in a different direction overlayed on top of the scratches you see in this photo. Could these patterns of scratches be from a grinding wheel that took off the recurve?
 
Aren't those grind marks? I'd definitely prefer a straight edge to recurve though. 710 is a nice knife, and it was the blade shape that made it a close second to my current EDC, a Spyderco Military.

the prototypes did (i have one) but the 1st pro-runs had G10, all i have ever seen/heard of anyway.

my prototype doesnt have a lotta recurve either,
