hey guys i have been obsessing with the 710 so much lately i actually had a dream about it last night where i finally got it at the bookstore in my school. anyone know a good Canadian store that sells it? since i live in Canada the custom fees on the past purchases from US are almost half as much as the item itself. or is there a way to avoid it cause i always choose UPS as the delivery method.

thx lots in advance

I wish I could help you with your search but all I can do is tell you that your obsession is valid. The 710 is the finest folder I've ever used. I have one of the originals in ATS-34. Probably the newer steels are even better. But the design is what really lights my torch. The lock is bombproof, the handles comfortable for long use, and the recurved blade shape (although a bit difficult to sharpen) is fantastic for slicing or push cutting. I've carried mine every day since the day I got it.

Warriors and Wonders wont have it. They don't carry Benchmade. I was just there yesterday.

New Graham rocks, they always help tighten the pivots before shipping if you ask.

I just got my 710 last week. I got it from Knifesupply.com. Very good customer service too but shipping will be more. It's seems offset if you buy more than 1 knife.

Yea New Graham is good.......if they have it in stock. Seems to me that they never have any of the good knives in stock for some reason.

For around $100 pickup a 710D2. Great knife and an easy EDC considering its size. And yeah, sorry to read NGK is having issues with Benchmade, I've bought many of their knives from them. Hope it all works out...

First thing you have to do is you NEVER pick UPS as the shipping method. USPS will charge minimum tax, if any

There is an authorized Benchmade dealer on Vancouver Island. The name is Bladeworks and the owner, Lorien, is a stand up guy with a B&M store.

UPS usually has an arrangement with local governments to handle collection of import duties for the government (as do most of the larger courrier services.) But UPS also have some 'shady' practices... They will hold an order in their customs holding pen, then charge a 'storage fee' because they held it. They often tack on an 'insurance charge' even if you didn't request any insurance, and they add in a handling charge for collecting the customs duties for the government. I've been living abroad for the past 19 years and will try very hard NOT to use UPS for any deliveries, going so far as to order from different companies if needed to get around the issue. EVERY order I have gotten via UPS has always had import duties tacked on. The last five orders I've received from outside Japan, all via USPS, haven't even been opened by Customs! Came straight through without any extra charges.

The 710D2 is by far the best production knife for the price. (my amateur opinion) Right now US dollars $104 to $115. NGK does not have the standard model in stock and will not have it anytime in the near future. They just removed it from their site. They do have a 710D2BK (black blade)plain edge in stock right now. $115, I’m not sure but that may not be a catalog item.

I know this because I received my second 710D2 today after looking all over for one the past month. Just for fun I wanted to see if anyone else had it and I went to NGK first. I was tempted to get the 710D2BK but I just spent money on the stainless blade. Not complaining in the least. I had to look twice to make sure it actually said in stock. It looks better than the pictures show and works better than any knife I have. That long blade shoots out with the classic AXIS Snap. Locks up tight. Thin, long, balanced right. A homerun!

Just my humble opinion.

Oddly it's a Blue Box and better than any Black Box I have. :)

710D2 and 710D2BK are the same steel (D2), BK is a black coating.
D2 is stain resistant tool steel, but not stainless. A very good steel.
