I am very interested in the Benchmade 720, but have a few questions:

1)Some versions have aluminum handles with the butterfly painted on them, others seem to have handles of a different substance with the butterfly etched into them. Are there different numbers for the different versions, or are they all 720? And what are the etched handles made of?

2)Any idea where I could find the etched 720 for sale? Just missed one on these boards and been checking ebay with no luck.

My thanks for the wisdom and knowledge on these forums.

I am not too sure about the different versions, but I think your best bet to owning one would be to keep your eyes open in the exchange forum. They have been discontinued for a while now and I dont think anymore dealers have them. But definately jump on it when you see one. I have one and it is a great knife.

I believe the aluminium handle was made 1st. Then Benchmade switched to G10. The G10 bowie blade I have is marked 721. I also have a CE tanto that does'nt have any mark , it just has First Poduction Run 0093/1000. The tanto blade is made of ATS 34 and the bowie one is 154CM.
Its a shame these were discontinued cause I think they have one of the most comfortable handles.
