Hey guys, is the leading edge ground at the same degree as the main edge?

Not on mine. The main edge is about 22 degrees per side (~44 degrees inclusive), and the front was about 20 degrees per side (~40 degrees inclusive).

This is not the typical tanto profile. I prefer the the leading (front) edge to be more robust than the main edge, so I re-profiled the front edge to a wider angle (~46 degrees inclusive).

The whole idea of a tanto is to have a blade shape that is good for penetrating with a strong tip design, and to have a front leading edge that was shallower than the main edge defeats that purpose.

The 722 is a great knife however, and was (and occasionally is) part of my EDC for years.

Shane, if sharpening on a Sharpmaker what is the best way for sharpening the lead edge?

Sorry NRG - I only sharpen freehand with sticks and stones. That's the only way to have total control over angles....
