According to the Benchmade website, the 732 Ares series has been discontinued at the factory.

Although this model will still be available for while at dealers, the official run of the Ares is now over. :(

Yeah, it stinks for sure. The AFCK and the Ares are both discontinued. What's next to go, the 710?!?

I really do not like BM's trend toward aluminum handles in their new models, and now they are doing away with some of my favorite ones that happen to use G10.

There is less and less for me to like in their current lineup, but my 710HS is still a dream come true.

Maybe they are working on a new version of the Ares? I'm gald I got one, it's a great knife.

Wade, I kind of doubt it. Allen Elishewitz (the original designer) severed his relationship with BM a long time ago.

Interesting. I always liked that knife but opted for the 520 because it's technically a little more legal to carry where I am (under 3.5"). You have to wonder why BM is whacking their classics...

Hmmmm. Very sorry to see that one go.:( I have a couple of versions of the Ares, including one I'm real glad I got---the limited edition S30V, CF bolsters and rosewood scales. I always considered the Ares to be a great design.

Cutting the made in USA models and increasing importation of foreign made knives...... business as usual... :grumpy:

Truer words were never spoken. I liked my 732. It was a bit big for me but liked it just the same. CMD said it best!

I find it interesting that while some manufacturers like Buck have fielded the 110 seemingly forever, Benchmade changes their model line from time to time, almost as car manufacturers change their lineups as well.

Consider for example that GM has discontinued their Firebird/Camaro line staying only with the Corvette.

While I'm sorry to see a great design disappear from BM's lineup, I'm always curious to see what comes over the horizon. In any case, the 732 will still be available, while supplies last, for the folks who are interested in buying one.

I'm happy I got my LE's while they were still readily available. :D
