help me choose between the benchmade 741 onslaught or the 860 bedlam. its come down to these two so help me make it easy right now i am in the 741 boat but i am really torn in the end

they are absolutely not for hard use. only for occasional light edc and pride of ownership so blade thickness is a moot point

this is a good comparison video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0fysLnNUvtM

I would take Bedlam. I have got Onslaught and it feels too big for me - too wide and bulky. Bedlam is small and compact compared. I think Mini Onslaught is a very nice knife - I will get my hands on it some time soon. And Bedlam: I am planning to buy it for a long time now. Too bad that all these other nice knives keep getting in the line in front of it!

the size is one of the things i like about the onslaught to be honest, i like the 741 for the size and over all design bladeshape handle shape the spyder hole that horn' on the blade is cool i always wanted a spyderco lum but they stopped production and the onslaught is a bigger badder version imo

on the bedlam i like the sculpted G10 the glass breaker the sweeping shape and large handle

I have had both and liked both. I would take Bedlam since I love the Persian upswept look plus my wife bought it for me so I will keep it.

I handled both of them yesterday and here's what i think: i'd be more likely to buy the bedlam (actually quite likely). I really like the looks of it. the onslaught seems like it might be a bit more practical but if you just want a "cool" knive go for the bedlam. also black box might not be quite as high quality, dunno. handle both knives and see how they feel. then buy the 860.

even on here its a split decision

i would also like to add that the 741 is 30 bucks cheaper than the 860 on GPKNIVES.COM if that is a deal breaker for you guys

741: $122

860: $153

i wish i could go to a store to handle the knives but where i live the only knives in stores are gerbers and bucks with the occasional kershaw or sog no higher quality knives

This probably doesn't count for anything, but I actually don't really like either of those knives. Have you considered trying to find an AFCK? The AXIS lock version is beautiful.
Bit on the pricey side these days, but in my opinion a far superior knife.

BUT, if you absolutely must choose between these two very large knives, I would have to say that the "schimitar" style blade on the Bedlam is not desirable IMHO. Nor is it overly useful for any particular reason, it only really serves to be "cool" looking, which is, needless to say, debatable.
I prefer thumb holes to thumb studs, so there's another point for the Onslaught.
Both blades are kind of huge, but I suppose this is what you're looking for.

I have to admit though, that the Bedlam has a better (deeper) pocket clip, and the glass breaker is an added bonus. Mostly for cool factor. But I doubt very much that anyone will ever need this knife for the specific purpose that it was designed for, rendering most of its features useless.

If I had to choose, I would ultimately go with the Onslaught. Then I would regret the purchase immediately, and never carry it for fear of someone spotting that absolutely hideous pocket clip.
