if You need one of the best "cutting machine" in the "Folder's World" [better than Spyderco Military, I have both]
- choose a 741,
thin blade [like kitchen knife], smooth action, strong lock, but heavy weight

If you need tactical knife, Emerson is good for You

-edit-
sorry for my poor English :(

Axis lock over liner lock. Emersons are nice but the Axis is stronger in my opinion but others may disagree. I bought 2 Emersons a few weeks ago and one had to go to Emerson to get, "adjusted." It was grinding when I tried to open it. The other knife's clip came bent and it would not stay on my pocket. Emerson was nice enough to send me a new clip but they charged me $15 shipping to get the one that would not open back even though it was NIB. Now I just have Benchmades with Axis locks and the 710 is my favorite but I am looking hard at the 741 too.

I own the Benchmade 741 and a stonewashed CQC-13. Personally I like the CQC-13 better. It feels better in hand to me. I know some don't like the liner lock on an Emerson......but that is just a personal preference thing and it has become a useless debate on the forums. The 741 is a very large folder. Too large for my liking. It is well designed and you cannot beat any design from the late Bob Lum but the blade is ground very thin so while it makes a super slicer I don't know how well it will hold up to harder use cutting chores.
I have never had an issues with an Emerson liner lock and there are many, many more Emerson users that will attest to the same thing.
I like Benchmade's axis lock and it is an excellent lock......but don't be afraid of a quality liner lock either. The Emerson left-hand biased grind might be a little different for you and that is something to consider but now that I have been using Emerson knives I don't really notice it.
The Emerson CQC-12 is similar in design to the CQC-13 and is made with a framelock instead. They are not being produced at the moment but you can find them around if you look hard enough.........especially the partially serrated versions.
