It doesn't bear any of the benchmade markings but it's pretty obvious

I know the knife in the picture doesnt have logos but that doesnt mean it wont show up with them. I have bought a couple knives from china under the condition they not have any illegitimate makers marks and one showed up with the logos anyways and another they simply sanded it off the blade and it looked horrible.

As long as people keep buying them, they'll keep copying them....

IMO, that is so sad, and further, anyone who buys counterfeit good(s) is a fraud themselves. In the world of horology, this is so commonplace, it's disgusting. I even cannot stand homages.

Its a touchy subject on all sides of the debate. Its one that we try not to discuss because it never ends well.

I picked up this from a guy I work with he bought a bunch of knives at a yard sale. At first I thought it was real but for 10 bucks I didnt make a fuss.its a shame tho

The other side has the logo and it was faded a bit

Morality and ethics aside, I have a practical objection to most clones.

I don't get the point of duplicating that knife - the main draw, AFAIK, is the build quality and the blade steel... Even if they match the build quality, the same materials can be found via Kizer in the same price range and with a warranty to back it up.

I bought a all-Ti DOC clone a while ago, but immediately realized what a poor investment it was. Why would I spend more than $50 on a knife with no warranty? There are a number of high-quality clones out there (my roommate loves his Shiro clone) but I have had to conclude that the established companies offer a much better deal given the warranty and availability of service - not to mention the retained resale value. You can sell a used DOC for 15-20% less than BNIB, but good luck getting even 50% back on a used clone (assuming you're honest about it being a clone). DOC develops play? Send it in. Clone develops play? That sucks.

I've never seen a clone of this knife

I just saw a 620cf clone on there, too, so convincing im sure someone might get ripped off down the road if its sold for a real one. This is the ugly side of high tech cnc machines....

There's nothing 'touchy' about it....HST got it right in his comment....

It's really black and white, you just need to be able to understand what buying a direct counterfeit means....

With this kind of high tech equipment nothing is safe anymore the zt 801,620cf, as well as the crk clones are pretty scary in being so close in looks to the real ones. This is a bigger time than ever to watch who your buying from...

I promise I wasn't trying to start a debate. This was just meant to be a PSA.

No, its awesome that people bring these knives to the attention of the public. It gives a heads up to people that may be looking to buy one of the real knives. Could you imagine some poor sap thinking he got a s35vn proto or one off or any number of excuses a scam artist could pawn off? My comment about it being a touchy subject was me referencing the whole debate of clones and counterfeits in general. Heads up are great. But once people either start excusing them or berating them the conversation takes a dive instantly and before you know it infractions are being passed out like party fliers.

I dont agree with you. Hence you being offended at my comment. Hence it being a touchy subject. Hence I will not elaborate. You feel the way you do and there is nothing wrong with that. I however dont care how you feel about it. :)

The middle milling on mine on the handle went all the way across ln pictures I found it was actually 2 smaller millings
