Hey folks, I've got a few questions about replacement parts for the 761. I don't know if anyone shares my opinion, but I do not like the clip at all. It is incredibly hard to get in and out of pocket, especially out. It hangs up on the stitching every time. So I was wondering if anyone new of anywhere I could get a more typical titanium clip that will drop into this knife so I can get rid of this clip.
I'm also not big on the thumb stud, it is a smaller narrower stud, and I would prefer a little larger one, but I do not know how interchangeable thumb studs are, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Regards,
Andy

I do believe I'm in the minority here, but I like the clip. :) I like it's retention strength, and not worrying that my expensive new knife might come out when I sit, or squat down.

Clip works great for me!!!---- think the replacement clip is covered on another thread? Look at the other 761 threads and you will see what some other guys did!

Ive had mine for about 3-3 1/2 months after about a week i had to put a new clip on it. I love everything about the knife except the clip.
Sometimes i use a pancake belt sheath like the chris reeves sheath or any sheath for a buck 110 cause there very similiar in size.
I wear dress pants alot so always carrying 2 knives kinda weights the pockets down.

Do you happen to know the measurement for the screw holes?

I agree that clip is ugly as sin! I really like the low carry clip Padron put on it, much, much better! Its such a great looking knife too you would think they would have put a little more time in designing the clip!

It's not even that I think it's that ugly, I think they had a cool idea, they just failed at making it very functional. I like the idea of having it tight so it never falls out of your pocket, but when I can't hardy get it in my pocket, or out then we have a problem.

I beleive its a 2/55 or 2/56 thread by 1/8", the factory screws can be used with either clips that im using.
Or do you mean the center to center of the screw holes, if so they are not level with the knife in any way.
If you were to hold the knife upwards in the closed position tip down the right screw will sit about a 1/16 lower.

As for the center to center of the wholes its rite at 17/64, centered i used a 3/32 bit to drill the clip which is the same size as the factory clip holes. with this size bit you will have some wiggle room on the clip If you want it to rest on the lock to give it more lock tension or not.

I used thse clips for a few knives, there real cheap to buy. And if you mess up who cares it was only a $1.45.
I like the way they look when there polished out especially on my spyderco vallotton

Awesome!! Thanks for the info!! Where did u order the clips from if you don't mind me asking?

Something else to take into consideration is that, if you look real close at the clip where the tension touches the side.
There is a rub mark, since this clip isnt real wide it does move side to side a bit. And its not from loose screws.
And that will give you a rub mark.
I even sanded, buffed/polished the back side of the clip tremendously at it still there.

It doesnt bother me on this knife cause its a user.

It does the same thing on the spyderco, but i have yet to carry this knife.
It did give it a small rub mark on the g10 of the spyderco. But i buffed out the whole knife as you can see in the recent pic. Which looks alot better to me anyhow
