Benchmade 790 Subrosa... First Production? What have I got here?

So I have this on it's way to me on a pretty good trade deal but the owner is telling me these are selling doe $250 as they are now discontinued, and this is a first production...

I am no collector, and previously never owned a higher end Benchmade, but I have no idea what it is worth or if it is a good knife or not.

Reviews seem positive, however it is a little bit big for my tastes...

Any Benchmade collectors have anything good or bad to say about it?

According to the previous owner it is in NIB condition, so what kind of value am I looking at? Is this guy full of BS, or does the "First Production" thing mean anything?

Thanks in advance..

there's other knives I'd rather spend $250 on, but if you really like the knife it's probably a "fair" deal.

I'm not spending that on it...

Traded a knife I had listed at $225 for the BM 790, ZT 0550, and a Surefire EB1...

Just kinda looking to hear more about the BM 790, and what people think of it?

Also curious on a fair asking price if I was to sell?

You have been here long enough to know we aren't supposed to give value answers to anybody not at least a gold member. Sign up. The membership isn't that much, it's worth it and you can even sell knives here. If you are here much it's the right thing to do anyway. Good luck.

You can search past listings here or on online auctions for hints as to the value. You made a very good trade though.

In some ways I like the 790 but the designs in the scales are a bit funky to me and I don't like the recurve in the blade. Other than that it would be a good EDC knife.
