I just ran across a snippet about Benchmade wanting to re-release the 806 AFCK in m4 steel this summer. Is there any truth to this rumor? Anyone else have any info?

Yes it's supposed to happen. No idea when it will actually be released tho. It'll probably look exactly like the 806D2 except with a little M4 tag instead.

With regards to the 806...the product is in development and will be brought to market in the coming months. Details are still TBD. We thank you for your continued patience. Regarding the accidental deletion of the original thread, this was a software glitch, plain and simple. We're sure you’d agree that we'd be fools to intentionally delete a topic that captivated so many participants on the forum.

Please keep the comments and posts coming.

This is one I have been following carefully since BM decided to produce them.

I hope they don't have individual numbers. That would make me not want to use the knife since it'd be a "collectible." I could do without the whole "#x of 1000" or whatever it will be.

I'd be fine with an identical axis 806 except with m4.

Some steel wool or some sandpaper could take care of that whole "collectible" thing. :)

I'd take an 806 with any steel they wanted to use. ROSTFREI is pretty good stuff.

Well if there would be a few thousands more made and sold there would be no problem at all.:D

Yea, but if it's m4, then it will most likely be coated like the 710 m4. Sandpaper would tear up that coating.:p

EDIT: Rostfrei is just the German word for "rust free," or more specifcally stainless as in stainless steel, since there is no German word for stainless. (I'm German btw).

Oh, it will be a limited edition, since limited editions seem to be the only way the 806 sells out.

I don't care how the 806 comes out. Something has come up everytime this knife has been released in one form or another and I will not miss it this time around. I do not have any M4 blades so i hope its that. Benchmade has been pretty mum about it so I am betting its a while before it comes out. But I would love to be wrong! :)

They released a carbon fiber/S30V run to a dealer not too long ago, so they obviously still have the tooling to make them. CPM-M4 @ RC 60 would make for a fantastic heavy use knife.

Now it's just a question of demand.... and judging how the last special run came out [rushed out the door with poor liner/backspacer fitting, painted G10 scale instead of a new solid color, etc.], I wouldn't hold my breath for it.

It seems these days that Benchmade is doing the complete opposite of what us knife nuts want.
