The only things that are holding me back from buying the 806D2, are the length of the knife (I want a knife that carries easily) and the blade geometry.

How's it cut? And how does it carry compared to a Griptilian? The Griptilian was a bit too thick for me, although the size and design was just about perfect.

I found the blade geometry on the one I owned to be quite good; but the knife is not an easy carry simply because the handle is so long. It is fairly flat, but very lengthy.

Have you considered a mini-Griptilian. They are not just smaller than the full-size version, they are a better knife as well.

i have carried an AFCK design for many many hours w/no problem (axis and liner) they are not so large/thick/heavy to be a hassle for edc, at least not for me, actually carry/conceal pretty good for me, but i also carry a cammilus maxx/rekat sifu (or used to) w/no probs, so.........

I guess the only question left on the 806D2 is carry. I sold my EDC  and so I'm looking for a replacement.

I've been looking into other knives as well, but none of them seem to match up with the BM at that price point.

-Premium steel
-G10 scales
-AXIS lock
-Tip up/Tip down/Reversable clip (although I prefer tip down for larger blades)
-Thin
-Proven design
-Comfortable in hand
-Looks fun! (something I won't get tired of looking at)

I'm leery of linerlockers, but if I get over that fear, I'll probably look into them more. I'll still prefer the "super locks" of present, though.

I'm looking for a larger blade to complement my SAK. However, comments on knives of smaller length (but at least 3" blade) are welcome. The knife has to have premium materials, though (specifically, G-10 scales, good lock, and at least ATS-34).

I've also looked into getting a small fixed blade for EDC, but the sheeple in Japan would utterly freak. Utterly. There would be a stampede, and Japan would sink like Atlantis, and Godzilla would appear on the horizon. But, when I go to the States, I swore to myself I would buy a nice semi-custom/custom necker for EDC.

Finally have some money on hand from selling various things, so I want to get something that will tide me over for a time until I find a job that allows me to speak English.

Mine is my edc. It carries just fine for me, and tip up is not a problem because of the huge axis detent. It cuts just fine too. I would reccomend one.

The AFCK is a truly terrific knife. Very well designed and made. I find it to be easy enough to carry in jeans or casual slacks, but it prints in anything very dressy. It is quite a large folder.

I have visited Japan a few times myself, and I am quite certain that if you open an 806D2 in public, the scenario you described will occur just as surely as it would if you pulled a C. Reeve Green Beret out of your pants. You forgot to include the part where you are arrested for carrying an illegal and dangerous weapon. The AFCK's have a seriously intimidating appearance, especially when they sport black coated blades.
