Hello

Just noticed there is a new Benchmade coming soon - manual version of the automatic Bedlam

What do you guys think about this knife (or the auto version for that matter , as they are almost identical) ?
To me , it looks awesome , except maybe the weight and the fact it will be tiny bit shorter than the auto version

Any idea when this knife is supposed to released ?

If they made a mini version, I would buy a dozen.

wonder if it's axis-assist..

No , as I said in the OP , it is manual , at least according to the specs

Mini version would make absolutely no sense with this model
In fact , I wish they would make it a little bit longer , something like 4 1/4 " would be perfect

The bladeshape would be perfect for edc, but 7.1 oz is a bit much for an edc.

amazing knife. hopefully it will be a liner lock (yeah right, i know)

Nope, even better, axis lock.

Hello there,

I own a Bedlam 8600 (it's the auto), plain blade. Great knife, IMO. Axis is one of the greatest locks ever made and the Bedlam is built like a tank. It's my favorite knife in my collection.

As far as I know, the 860 is up for preorder at a couple of places, namely Knifecenter and GP Knives.
Personally, I preordered a few days ago one with a plain blade (not a fan of serrations really), satin, at GP Knives as their price is way better than KC. GP Knives put up an estimate release date of 02/01/2011 for this knife.

Hope this bit of info helps...

Thanks for your reply , definitely helps
Is there any photo of the satin version ? as far as I know the auto only comes in black

It is a beautiful bowie , but perfect for EDC ? I don't know about that
If you talking about pure SD EDC , sure , but for utility use EDC , this is probably not very good choice

Sure, it's basically all belly, and it's got a ton of it.

It's more about the weight than anything, though.

You guys realize if you made the spine of the blade a straight line to the tip it would be similar to a Spyderco Military/Para-Military blade.....

How is it not good for EDC?

Looks like a very capable blade.

It looks like it would make all NKP within a five mile radius sh1t their panties, though...

Automatic, black, tactical, pointy, a swedge, glass breaker type pommel, with lots of belly and writing on the blade, and it's even called something vaguely unpleasant (Bedlam): I can just imagine what would happen if I whipped that out downtown, hahaha... The only way you could make it less NKP-friendly is if you made it serrated. :D

This one will be manual though , and there will be also satin model , and yes , it comes (half) serrated as well
But yeah , no doubt , this is one beautiful , intimidating knife
