It seems over the last few moths I've averaged adding one more knife every 2-3 weeks to my collection, its that time again. So, I'm looking at the BM 890 plain blade for another EDC and I'm thinking of the BM 890. Any thoughts on this knife? steel quality? Handle Feel? Weight? Overall feel?
Thank you in advance

The 890 is a great knife. Love the Classy look and great feel. I know alot of people don't like the smooth g10- but I like it (doesnt rip up your jeans). Great EDC.

I don't own the knife, but you might consider saving for another couple weeks, and you can pick up the gold class; 890-111 aluminum handles w/ carbon fiber inlays, and an M390 super steel blade. For $250 ..... It's on my list, if it lasts..... "oromoto" did an HD review on ytube ..... looks different than the pics on the dealer sites.

The 890 is a great knife. I've handled one at the store and to me it felt just like a buck large vantage. However to me, i prefer to spend $40 less and get IMHO superior steel, tip up configuration, thumbhole and an excellent flipper in the Vantage pro vs. a thumbstud and assisted opening, 154cm (still a great steel,) and tip down.

You cant go wrong with either of them.

Just my $0.02.

I'm a big fan of it. Very comfortable in the hand, versatile blade shape, good materials, very well-implemented assisted opening -- just an excellent overall design. It's not a heavy use knife by any means with the .100" blade stock and relatively thin liner lock, but for a good light-to-medium-duty EDC it should serve you very well.

Since the regular one can be had for around $100 shipped, I'd suggest trying that out first and then, if you really like the design, dropping the extra change on the Gold Class version.

Pros:
The 154cm steel holds a great edge.
Overal quality is perfect.
Takes less than a day for the nitrous mechanism to break in.
The G-10 scales look like carbon fiber.
Deep pocket carry.
Lightweight.
Steel protusion at the handle (looks cool, and can serve as a striking tool).
Titanium liners.

Cons:
Clip is shiny and overly long.
Handle provides little friction for grip.
Single sided thumb stud.

I picked one up about a month ago after drooling over it for awhile. I would have to say it's now my favorite folder and worth the money. I've already gotten compliments on it (it has a great style and look). The smooth G10 IMO is fine as it is not a hard use blade to begin with and adds to the overall 'polished' look and feel of the knife. Sort of like a gentleman's folder that still looks like it means and can handle business. Only problem I've had is I'm hesitant to use it at times as it's so handsome haha. Definitely get one.
