The Benchmade 908 is a blade I've been looking at for a while now. Only I can't quite pull the trigger on this one for some reason or another. Does anyone have one of them? What're your thoughts on the blade?

I own the 909 which is a tanto blade. I won't lie, it came with some play which couldn't be adjusted out, but the folks at benchmade have mailed me a form and label to send my knife in for warranty. I really wanted to change the blade to a drop point, and the first lady I talked to said that was not possible. However, another lady not only said said they would do it, but she also said shed wave the blade replacement fee since the knife had blade play from the beginning. This is my first time dealing with their warranty service. We'll see though, but to answer your question, I haven't given it a chance. Cosmetically though, I like it.

Their customer service department is one of the best things about Benchmade... one of the best in the business far as I'm concerned.

It's the quality control that's making me hold off on it personally. The last Benchmade I purchased (a 531) was so off center that it's actually touching one of the scales (locks up solid like a bank vault though). It's actually headed off Monday for warranty repairs.

I have a 908 Stryker and I like it a lot. Mine had bit of blade play out of the box but it was easily adjusted out by slightly tightening up the pivot.

I thought the 909 would satisfy me but the drop point in the 908 is so good looking and balanced in the handle. Add another to the list...

Good luck in your decision. :D
