I'm thinking of getting a benchmade 913 nitrous stryker. Convince me this is a mistake. Or that it is a great knife.

From the videos I've seen it seems like it operates very well and it looks good.

I'm looking for a longer (>3.5") assisted opening knife that is also fairly thin. So far, I think the 913 is my best option. Am I an idiot, or is this a good choice?

Thank you in advance for your comments.

This is a great knife..
I have both the 913D2 and the mini - 907D2,
you can't go wrong with either one.

Good choice, highly recommended.

I have the 913D2 as well. It's a fantastic light to medium duty EDC and you'll be delighted with its weight too.

Plus I got mine on closeout at Impact Guns a month or two ago for $79.99 :D

I recommend the Nitrous Stryker for EDC. The blade does indeed deploy quite fast.

I love mine. I want to get the Mini to go with it. I need to adjust the pivot because I tried to center the blade before and I don't like how I adjusted it.

That knife is a joy to carry and use it. Lightning fast opening and it feels great in hand. Don't be stupid and go buy one!

imo the blade shape isnt very useful for EDC compared to some of the other bm models Ive owned (707, 710, ritter grip, even the 520) and thats why I sold mine but its a very well put together peice of kit. black class knives are great and worth every cent if you think thats your use.

I wish they made it in 154cm, I would consider buying another one just because I miss the a/o sometimes and Ill be honest nitrous is without question the best system. it also kind of cheeses me that the auto variants are in 154cm.

Id go with the Benchmade CQC7 if you like their brand (even though its basicly an Emerson design) its based on a knife thats been used by soldiers for decades(the CQC stands for close quarters combat, and I believe the original design was made for the SEALS), but if you like Benchmades quality.....you cant go wrong!

yes the cqc 6 (the original design the cqc 7 is very similar too) was developed for seals.

but he wants a spear point, assisted opening folder over 3.5 inches so you recommend him a tanto balde, wave opening 3.25 inch folder thats long discontinued.

absolutely brilliant.

My apologies to FOL if this offends . But that was just hilarious.
I am not laughing at you, just at mcmanis post.

Yet another vote for either Benchmade 913 or 907 Nitrous knives, fast and safe opening, light and very sturdy. Recommended.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. Based on your input, I did order the 913. It sounds like I'm going to be very happy with it. I'll let you know when I get it.

Well I got it about a week ago. I'm not going to do a full review because I'm not really qualified to do so, but overall I really like it. At first I found it very difficult to open, but that went away with some use or maybe I just got used to it. The difficulty in opening was not from the screw or pivot point, but from the "torsion bar" that holds it in place when it is closed. But like I said, over time it wasn't so bad. I really like how it feels in my hand, it's like it was custom made for me. I think I'm going to take the clip off.

I made a short video...
