Has anyone ever had any experience with the Triage? I picked it out for a couple of reasons. 1. The G-10. I don't want a FRN or plastic feeling handle. My Spyderco already has that. 2. It doubles as a rescue tool with the hook cutter thing and a carbide tip. 3. I like the look of Benchmades, especially with the axis lock. Can anyone help me?

If you care, here is Nutnfancy's take on it. I've had it on my top 20 "to buy" list for a good while, but have not pulled the trigger on it yet. Similar blade profile to the 950 Rift and Contego, which are also great blades.

I have two 915S that are carried in my vehicles in case of emergency. I don't honestly have a ton of experience with them as I don't use them as a daily but here are my impressions anyway.

G10 is super textured, really nice when wearing gloves. Fits really nicely in my hands. The blade shape is nice for slicing but the reason I went with serrations is for the emergency use aspect.

Kinda heavy and slightly awkward flipping out the hook. These are the only negatives. The edge has held up fine for me but I've heard that N680 doesn't hold an edge like some of the best super steels. Only tested the carbide glass breaker once (it was awesome).

Really nice for what I use it for, but I don't think I'd use it for edc.

I like mine. I'm a first responder and thought it would be a great knife for work but then I realized I liked it so much that I didn't want to risk losing it. To me the G10, belt cutter, N680 steel, sheeps foot blade and it's size (to me it's on the bigger side as far as folders go and I like big folders) were all wins in my book. Also I have a thing for orange knives. It did have a miminal amount of side to side blade play that was easily fixed but up and down was, and remains, solid.

One that I thought I would like till I handled one, probably good quality, sucks when there's an axis knife I don't like.

Maybe I handled a lemon... Next time I'm at a store with them in stock I'll check it out again and see if I remember why I don't like it. :)

It's fine for EDC, got tip up carry reversible pocket clip. I leave mine in my pickup mounted under dash, for emergency extractions, myself or others.

Firfighter/paramedic in fl. Carry mine and love it every shift. Dont go auto, too heavy/expensive

Only handled one once at jax, and it felt great in hand. I liked the auto version because the saftey cutter locks into place. Other than that a manual one is perfect.

I have one, and at times have carried it at work as an LEO. I also bought the 916, and HATED it. I sold it a few weeks later. The blade looks and feels twisted to me. Also, unknown to me when I bought it, they are a chisel grind. I am not a fan of that in a knife. The 915 is sweet, and it shares time with my Spyderco Assist.

Bought one for a good friend that is a first responder, he has had nothing but good to say about it. Carries it with his call out gear, hasn't let him down.

I got issued the 916, I'm a load master on the C-130, I love this knife, g10 is great for grip, ergo is great, 154 cm is very tough, I like the opposite bevel on the blade because we have to pry lock covers open all the time and that blade is a champ for prying. Also the rescue hook is sharp as it can be, countless times of cutting 550 cord and nylon straps rated for 13,000 lbs and other materials. I'm eventually going to get one for myself and in orange. If you don't need to pry open as much, I would get the mod sheeps foot on the 915 (same blade as a grip) which has amazing cutting ability.

I know this is a bit off topic, but what's it like being a loadmaster? I was looking into that when I get older. and you get issues knives in the AF?

Too bad you hated it. I love mine ; although I consider it more of a multi-tool than a knife. The blade is twisted intentionally
to give it strength for prying and screw driving tasks.
