Hello gents.

I recently bought a BM 930 and I'm having some problems with horizontal blade play, I think :/

At first I thought it was normal but after getting my new ritter mini-grip, I'm just no sure anymore.
I have tried to tighten it but it ends up not being as smooth and is still not as solid as my mini-grip :(

Is this normal or should I send it to BM for tuning?

Maybe try this: Using a tiny amount of purple or blue Locktite, tighten your pivot screw just until your blade play stops. Use the 930 enough to ensure it gets opened and closed many times to "break in". If it's still too stiff, I'd send it back for adjustment, telling BM what steps I took before sending.

Blue is a little stronger than purple, that's why purple was first recommended. You can;t hardly find it locally though, you pretty much have to order it online.

If you try what I said, besure to stop tightening the pivot screw(s) (one on each side? or just one?) AS SOON AS blade play is eliminated. THen set the knife down for 24 hours to let the Locktite set. After that, you can give it a few hundred or thousand (hehehe) blade openings, maybe use a little high-tech lube in the pivot area, and break it in.

Did as you suggested and it's much better, no blade play whatsoever.
It's still not as smooth, though, but I recon this will solve itself with time ;)
