Benchmade 940-1 question

Hey everyone,

I’m looking to buy a Benchmade 940-1, but I have a specific question about the blade seating when closed.

On some knives, the blade tip sits dangerously close to the handle edge — to the point where the tip isn't recessed deeply enough into the handle, leaving it exposed enough to catch on pocket fabric or even be pulled open by the tip itself.

For current 940-1 owners:

1. Does the tip sit deep enough inside the handle scales when folded, or does it ride high near the opening?

2. If you stick your finger in near the tip, are you able to catch the point and lift the blade open?

Thanks in advance for the feedback!

So I jammed my finger in there as far as I could, but couldn't reach the blade tip. The blade is pretty far from the standoffs at the back, too.

Based on personal experience, the blade tip snagging is mostly an issue with blades that have some kind of trailing point, like clip points, Persians, etc.

I have the older "original" Green Aluminum handled one and a Carbon Fiber one with S90V and a black G-10 handled one .
All three have the blade point / tip well down in the handle . Perfection !

Be very careful where you buy the knife, there are a lot of fakes of this one out there.
I was really worried about this. What’s stopping someone from buying a genuine one at an authorized dealer, returning a clone, and having that fake end up back on the shelf for the next buyer?
