Benchmade 940-2 - logo alignment, scale finish

Hi all!

I recently bought a 940-2 (official distribution). The only concern I have is the Benchmade logo placement on the blade. Compared to the photos I found on the Internet mine seems to be placed lower. The Benchmade text is right at the spot where the grind begins. Is it possible that the logo placement changes from piece to piece or could it be a counterfeit?

Another thing is the dot pattern on G-10 scales. Right side is perfect, while on the left side (where the Benchmade logo is) the pattern is uneven. Near the axis lock it not visible at all, almost like it was worn out. I’ve seen other on the Internet having the same problem.

Here are the pictures:

The date on the box says 5/17/21. Action and cantering is ok. What do you guys think?

Regards

Seems pretty normal. Benchmade’s fit and finish is all over the place. As long as it functions properly, that’s the main thing. If it bothers you a great deal you could return it, but there’s no guarantee that the next one will be any different.

Here’s my 940-2, purchased from an authorized b&m a few months after they were released:

I guess the butterfly is a wee bit higher than yours. Personally I don’t see that as an issue.

The G-10 texturing on my sample is asymmetric also, much lighter on the butterfly side. It wasn’t what I was expecting from a $170 knife either.

If your blade is near center with a decent action and negligible side-side play, plant the flag of victory and carry the crap out of it. Other than being a little too thick behind the edge (for my tastes), the 940 (& variants) is one of the very best designs for an EDC knife.

Also, ditto GB940Rookie GB940Rookie

Thanks for your answers. The logo doesn’t bother me much, it was only the difference between mine and some older ones on the Internet that made me suspicious.
Scale finish is a shame, but the seller told me they recently all come in this condition…

The blade centers perfectly and the action is quite good. A little on the stiff side, but it’s getting better as I use it. There no blade play whatsoever. I’ll keep it then. Thanks! :)
