Do y'all have any experience stripping the color off a Benchmade 940 backspacer?
I've heard of people stripping aluminum ano off with chemicals like purple power but im afraid of the chemical being too harsh and pitting the metal.
Ideas and advice are much appreciated, thanks :)

I use caustics like Drano Crystals to remove the anodizing/color from aluminum. A tablespoon in a cup of water should do the trick. You'll notice the color start coming off after the mixture starts to bubble/fizz. I remove the item to check to see if the color is completely removed using a small pick, wash with cold water. If the aluminum looks darker or tarnished a bit I'll wipe it down with a towel which usually removes the tarnish. Generally it takes less than a minute once immersing the item in the solution depending on the anodizing. I wear latex gloves and a respirator. The fumes from that mixture can make one gag/cough a bit.

It's titanium, not aluminum, unless it's changed in recent years.

Suggestions on removing color

More talk of it being titanium
